We've had a lot of help so far and we haven't even
started. This space is dedicated to everyone that has helped us
out...
Dan and Dee After six days of camping on the beach in Los Roques our food and drink were depleted. A couple from the states, Dan and Dee, walked up and invited us onto their yacht for lunch. Instead of having us walk the half mile to the boat, they went and parked the boat right in front of us, then came to get us in their dingy. Dan is an ex-navy seal and ex-New York policeman. After retiring, he designed a canoe and for two and a half years paddled up to Canada, down the Missippi, and around Florida back to New York. Dee is a volunteer worker with a great Georgian accent. They've been on their boat for seven years and took a break to build a log cabin by hand somewhere on the Appalachian Trail. They are known to give hikers camping space and breakfast in exchange for stories. Thank you both for setting the tone for the beginning of our trip. Vero/Nati Tours Or Nati/Vero Tours, depending on who you are talking to. This is the title we have given Veronica Pena and Natalie Salas have helped us navigate through Caracas. Without the two of them we would not have been able to put this trip together from here. There are people who know how to get things done in Latin America and they have introduced us to many of them. Ramiro Garcia Ramiro took on the job of creating the boxes for Chris' bike. I don't think he had any idea of the man hours required to custom build boxes and a mounting frame. He spent several nights in the shop working after 1 am. His attention to detail is incredible and his enthusiasm is a great inspiration.
Escuela Campo Alegre The teachers and staff of Escuela Campo Alegre in Caracas helped us get everything together before the trip. A special thanks to Shaun McElroy for the use of his apartment and internet line (peace, no war), Chris Mortonson for the hot shower access, and Jean Vahey for access the school and copy machines.

Hennessey Hammock We tested the Hennessey Hammocks out for five nights on the beach. We're so impressed, we're leaving the tent behind and taking hammocks for camping.
Panniers by Ramiro We had boxes for one of our bikes custom designed and mounted to the bike in Caracas. If you are starting a trip in Venezuela and want panniers made, contact Ramiro Garcia.
